Over 1.5 Million Score Below 200 in 2025 UTME as JAMB Releases Shocking Statistics

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that more than 1.5 million of the 1,955,069 candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scored below 200.

Only 420,415 candidates scored above 200, representing just over 21% of the total, while fewer than 1% managed to exceed the 300-mark threshold highlighting a concerning nationwide performance dip.

Among the candidates were 40,247 underage students, who were permitted to participate by JAMB as part of a special policy to encourage "exceptional abilities." However, just 467 of them (1.16%) reached the required cut-off to proceed to the next stages of evaluation.
