Only One Nigerian Cardinal Eligible to Vote in Papal Election, Says CBCN
The Catholic Broadcast Commission of Nigeria (CBCN) has announced that only one Nigerian cardinal is eligible to participate in the election of a new pope.
According to a statement posted on the CBCN’s Facebook page, His Eminence, Cardinal Peter Ebere Okpaleke, 62, the Bishop of Ekwulobia, is the only Nigerian Catholic cardinal qualified to vote in a papal conclave.
The CBCN clarified that the remaining three Nigerian cardinals are ineligible to vote due to their age.
