NARD Responds to Pastor Poju Oyemade's Claim on Doctors' Training Costs
The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has issued a strong response to recent remarks by Pastor Poju Oyemade, challenging his claim that doctors in Nigeria are trained for just N500,000 throughout their program.
In a public statement directly addressing Oyemade, NARD refuted the cleric’s assertion, clarifying the actual costs involved in medical education in Nigeria.
The association referenced a peer-reviewed study by Osoba et al. (2021), published in the Pan African Medical Journal, which indicates that the cost of training a doctor in Nigeria ranges from $21,000 to $51,000.
This figure includes tuition fees, living expenses, and other associated costs.
