Nigerian Government Presses Criminal Charges Against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Over Alleged Assassination Claims

The Nigerian government has filed criminal charges against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following statements she made during a live TV interview.

 The senator alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello conspired to assassinate her.

The case was brought before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, naming the Federal Republic of Nigeria as the complainant and Akpoti-Uduaghan as the sole defendant. She is accused of making statements that could damage reputations, violating Sections 391 and 392 of the Penal Code.
