New Tax System Set for January 2026 as Tax Reform Bills Await Presidential Approval

Nigeria is on the brink of a major tax overhaul, with a new system scheduled for rollout in January 2026, pending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of the harmonized Tax Reform Bills.

 The six-month window between the expected presidential assent and the implementation date is intended to create room for nationwide public education and proper institutional preparation.

A government source revealed that the period will not only raise awareness among Nigerians but also ensure a smooth transition to the new tax framework.
