NDPC Slams Multichoice Nigeria with ₦766.2 Million Fine for Data Privacy Violations

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has fined Multichoice Nigeria a total of ₦766.2 million for violating the Nigeria Data Protection Act.

In a statement released on Sunday and signed by Babatunde Bamigboye, Head of Legal, Enforcement & Regulations at the Commission, the NDPC confirmed that an investigation into Multichoice began in the second quarter of 2024.

The probe was launched following concerns about possible breaches of subscribers privacy rights and the unauthorized international transfer of personal data belonging to Nigerian citizens.
