My Push for Biafra Is a Right, Not Terrorism - Nnamdi Kanu
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has told the court that his campaign for the liberation of the South East, South South, and parts of Benue and Kogi States is a legitimate struggle not terrorism as alleged by the federal government.
In a statement he made during an interrogation by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Lagos on October 15, 2015, Kanu defended his actions, declaring that freedom fighting is recognized globally as a fundamental human right and not a criminal offense even under Nigerian law.
The statement, which was read aloud in court on Tuesday and accepted as part of the official evidence, also revealed that Kanu was questioned without legal representation, raising concerns about due process. He firmly denied any involvement in violence, insisting that he has never been connected to any acts of aggression or unrest in the country.
