Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, Announces End of Electricity Subsidies, Calls for Tariff Adjustments

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has announced that Nigeria can no longer afford to maintain electricity subsidies, urging Nigerians to prepare for tariffs that reflect the true cost of electricity. 

During a meeting with the Chairmen of Nigeria's Generating Companies (Gencos) in Abuja, Adelabu emphasized the unsustainability of subsidies, stating, “Our economy cannot sustain subsidies indefinitely.” He reassured the public that the government remains committed to offering targeted subsidies for economically disadvantaged Nigerians.
