Renowned R&B and soul singer, Angie Stone, has tragically passed away at the age of 63 after being involved in a fatal car crash in Montgomery, Alabama.
A representative for the singer confirmed her passing to Variety, revealing that Stone was on her way home after performing at a show when the accident occurred. Sadly, she was the only fatality in the crash.
Following the heartbreaking news, her daughter, Diamond Stone, shared a brief yet emotional message online, writing: “My mommy is gone.”
Angie Stone’s music career began at just 16 years old, when she became a founding member of the pioneering female hip-hop group, The Sequence. The trio achieved early success with their hit single Funk You Up, a track that would go on to influence future generations and was later sampled by Dr. Dre in Keep Their Heads Ringin and by Bruno Mars in the global smash Uptown Funk.
