I Regret Running as Atiku's Vice-Presidential Candidate in 2023

Former Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has publicly admitted that accepting the role of vice-presidential candidate alongside Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election was a mistake. 

In an interview on Arise Television's Morning Show, Okowa reflected on the political ramifications of his decision, acknowledging that his actions went against the sentiments of the people of Delta State.

Okowa revealed that he could feel the strong opposition from his constituents, who were against the idea of another northerner succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari. "Even during the campaign, I could feel that our people didn’t support that direction," he shared. "But the party had already made its decision, and I had been nominated. Looking back now, I believe I should have aligned with the will of my people.
