Former Presidential Aide Doyin Okupe Dies at 72
Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former media aide to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, has passed away at the age of 72. He died in a hospital on Victoria Island, Lagos, on Friday, March 7, 2025, after a prolonged battle with cancer relapse.
Born on March 22, 1952, in Iperu, Ogun State, Okupe was the son of Chief Matthew Adekoya Okupe, a banker with Agbonmagbe Bank. He had his early education at St. Jude’s School, Ebute Metta, before proceeding to Igbobi College, Yaba, and later, the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, where he obtained his medical degree.
