Foreign National Arrested After Abandoning Newborn Near Stormwater Drain
A 32-year-old foreign national has been arrested by the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) 17 hours after she abandoned her newborn baby near a stormwater drain in Verulam.
The baby was discovered by a Reaction Officer on bike patrol, hanging precariously on the edge of a manhole, leading to a two-meter drop.
The child was promptly rescued and taken to a government hospital
