Defence headquarters says 800 Former Boko Haram Fighters Undergoing Deradicalisation

The Defence Headquarters has announced that 800 former Boko Haram fighters who surrendered to the military are currently undergoing a deradicalisation program aimed at reintegrating them into society.

 Chief of Defence Training and Operations, Emeka Onumajuru, shared this information during an appearance on Channels TV on February 10, 2025.

Onumajuru stated that a one-year period is deemed sufficient for the reorientation and reintegration of these ex-terrorists. He noted that while approximately 129,000 Boko Haram fighters and their families have surrendered to date, only a select group has been chosen for rehabilitation.
