FG to Launch 77,400-Unit Social Housing Programme; Affordable Housing for All Nigerians

The Federal Government is set to roll out the Renewed Hope Social Housing Programme, a bold initiative aimed at addressing the housing needs of Nigerians across various income brackets, including low-income earners, the unemployed, and vulnerable groups.

Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, shared details of the programme during a visit by Creative Sphere Limited at the Ministry's headquarters on April 8, 2025. He disclosed that the programme will see the construction of 100 housing units in each of the country’s 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs), totaling an impressive 77,400 units within a year.

Dangiwa highlighted that this visionary initiative reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s determination to provide every Nigerian with access to decent housing. "The programme is designed to address the housing deficit and will be funded through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund (RHIDF)," he said.

The housing estates will feature recreational areas, a primary school, a police outpost, a clinic, and a shopping mall. According to Dangiwa, 80% of the houses will be sold to Nigerians within the local government areas who earn a living wage
