FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Revokes 762 Land Certificates for Non-Payment

Payment

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered the revocation of 762 plots of land owned by prominent Nigerians and corporate entities due to non-payment for their Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) in Abuja. This significant decision underscores the government's commitment to enforcing land regulations and ensuring compliance among property owners in the FCT.

In addition to the revocations, Wike has issued a stern warning to 614 other individuals and companies, threatening to withdraw their Rights of Occupancy (R-of-O) if they do not settle their outstanding bills within two weeks. This action reflects the urgency of the situation and the need for accountability among landholders.

Among those affected by the revocation are notable figures such as the Muhammadu Buhari Trust Foundation, owned by former President Muhammadu Buhari, and Walter Onnoghen, the former Chief Justice of Nigeria. Other prominent individuals include Abbas Tajudeen, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, and George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, along with his wife, Regina.

The list of individuals impacted also features several former governors, including Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Ben Ayade of Cross River, Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa, Shaaba Lafiagi of Kwara, Ahmad Sani of Zamfara, and Kabiru Gaya of Kano. Additionally, former and current federal lawmakers such as Enyinnaya Abaribe, Dino Melaye, and Shehu Sani are included in this sweeping measure
