Chinese Restaurant Owner Detained by ICE, Leaving His Wife and Six Children Demanding Answers
Dian Zhao Lin, affectionately known as “Mr. Lin” by customers at his Chinese restaurant in Mount Morris, New York, has spent more than 20 years building a life in the United States with his wife and six children.
Now, his family is seeking answers following his reported forceful detention by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) while he was on his way to work.
A video of the arrest that has circulated widely online appears to show ICE agents pinning Lin to the ground as he cries out for help, raising concerns about the force used during the encounter.
According to data cited by the A/PI ICE Tracker, Lin is among more than 5,300 Chinese immigrants reportedly detained by ICE since Donald Trump returned to the office.
The incident has sparked renewed criticism of immigration enforcement tactics and concerns about the impact of such arrests on immigrant families and communities.
Critics argue that aggressive enforcement operations can leave people feeling frightened and unwelcome in the neighbourhoods they call home while raising questions about the treatment of immigrants and the use of force during arrests
