Bayelsa Deputy Governor Sues Assembly Over Alleged Impeachment Plot After Refusing to Defect

Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has taken legal action against the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, alleging a plot to impeach him for refusing to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/221/2025, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Ewhrudjakpo claims that lawmakers are facing mounting pressure to remove him from office for his loyalty to the PDP the same party under which he and Governor Douye Diri were elected.
