APC Criticizes Peter Obi's New Year Message as "Doomsaying"
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, labeling his New Year message as the words of a "doomsayer" intent on turning Nigerians against President Bola Tinubu.
In his recent message, Obi expressed serious concerns regarding institutional corruption, mismanagement, increasing poverty, hardship, and the nation's growing debt profile. He criticized Tinubu's administration, claiming that corruption has become deeply entrenched and nepotism is prevalent.
In response, APC spokesperson Felix Morka issued a counter-statement on January 2, asserting that Obi's views contradict the positive signs of economic recovery across various sectors. Morka accused Obi and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of trying to incite public outrage against the Tinubu administration.
The APC characterized Obi as a "leading doomsayer" who failed to achieve meaningful progress during his eight-year tenure as governor of Anambra State. They highlighted that, 18 months into Tinubu's administration, the economy is reportedly showing signs of steady progress, and the government is committed to maximizing the benefits of ongoing reforms for the transformation of the country.
