24 Civilians Killed in Coordinated EIGS Attacks on Villages in Niger's Tillabéri Region
On the morning of May 13, 2025, at least 24 civilians lost their lives in a series of coordinated attacks carried out by suspected Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (EIGS) militants across several villages in Kokorou canton, located in Niger's Tillabéri region.
Local sources confirm that the attacks, which took place in the early hours, targeted six villages: Fambita, Zanay, a Tuareg camp, Mariyeyzé, Bourbangou, and Dirokooré.
The attackers, believed to be heavily armed, conducted simultaneous raids on the villages, indiscriminately firing at residents and causing widespread panic as people fled for safety.
