Zion Prayer Movement Outreach Denies Involvement in Blogger's Detention, Clarifies Legal Situation

The Zion Prayer Movement Outreach has dismissed media reports linking the ministry to the ongoing detention of blogger Harrison Ofoegbu, known as ljele Speaks. At a press conference held in Lagos on Saturday, the ministry’s Media Adviser, Dan Aibangbe, alongside the legal team, refuted claims that Evangelist Ebuka Obi, the Spiritual Director of the ministry, was responsible for Ofoegbu’s continued detention.

According to the ministry, reports stating that Ofoegbu has been held for one year by Evangelist Obi are entirely false. They explained that Ofoegbu was granted bail by the court on August 15, 2024, after fulfilling his bail conditions. However, the blogger remains in detention due to other legal matters unrelated to Zion Ministry, particularly a case at the Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State.

Zion Prayer Movement Outreach further clarified that Ofoegbu is facing charges for allegedly threatening the life of Evangelist Ebuka Obi, which has led to his ongoing trial. The ministry accused certain media outlets of deliberately spreading misleading information to the public.
