US Imposes Sanctions on Illicit Mineral Trade Networks in Eastern DRC

The United States has introduced targeted sanctions against four organizations involved in illegal mineral trading in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. 

Those named include armed groups and mining cooperatives linked to mineral smuggling operations.

According to US officials, the measures are intended to cut off financial lifelines for armed factions while encouraging transparent and lawful exploitation of the region’s natural resources.
