Tunisian President Calls for Faster Repatriation of Irregular Migrants

Tunisian President Kais Saied has urged the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to accelerate the voluntary repatriation of irregular migrants. 

He emphasized the need for a more decisive strategy to curb migration and prevent the challenges associated with illegal border crossings.

Saied's call reflects growing concerns in Tunisia about the economic and social impact of irregular migration. The North African country has become a key transit point for migrants attempting to reach Europe, particularly Italy, via dangerous sea routes.

The Tunisian government has been working with international organizations to manage migration flows, but Saied insists that a stronger approach is needed to address the root causes and ensure safe and legal migration pathways.
