Trump Orders US-Mexico Border Wall Painted Black to Deter Crossings
President Donald Trump has directed that the U.S.-Mexico border wall be painted black, arguing that the darker surface will absorb more heat and make the structure harder for migrants to scale.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the measure during a visit to Santa Teresa, New Mexico, where she explained that the initiative was taken at the President’s request.
Noem noted that in the region’s high temperatures, painting the wall black would make it even hotter and more difficult to climb.
