Troops Crack Down on Illegal Oil Operations in Niger Delta, Seizing Over 197,000 Liters of Stolen Products
In a significant operation against illegal oil refining, troops have deactivated 42 illegal refining sites and arrested 29 suspected oil thieves in the Niger Delta region. The crackdown, which took place from December 9 to 15, 2024, resulted in the recovery of approximately 197,000 liters of stolen petroleum products.
Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of the 6 Division Army Public Relations, announced the successful operations in a statement on December 15. The troops also demobilized 32 boats, 12 vehicles, and eight motorcycles used in economic sabotage.
