Supreme Court Revokes Fred Ajudua's Bail in Alleged $1.04 Million Fraud Case
On Friday, May 5, 2025, the Supreme Court granted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)'s appeal, revoking the bail previously granted to socialite Fred Ajudua by the Lagos Court of Appeal. Ajudua is facing trial for allegedly defrauding a Palestinian, Zad Abu Zalaf, of $1,043,000 under false pretenses.
Ajudua's trial began in 2005 but had been repeatedly delayed due to legal technicalities.
The case was reassigned multiple times before it was brought before Justice M.A. Dada in 2018. Following his bail denial, Ajudua successfully obtained bail from the Court of Appeal in 2018, but the EFCC challenged this decision at the Supreme Court in suit SC/51C/2019.
