Sean “Diddy” Combs Drops Bail Appeal, Remains in Custody Until Trial

Sean “Diddy” Combs has voluntarily dismissed his appeal to be released on bail until his trial, which is scheduled to begin in May 2025. This decision means the hip-hop mogul will remain incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

In a court document filed by his attorneys, it was stated, “Mr. Combs does not seek to appeal the district court’s denial of his renewed motion and hereby moves to voluntarily dismiss the appeal.” This filing follows a Manhattan federal judge’s rejection of Combs’ bail request over two weeks prior, citing “compelling evidence of Combs’s propensity for violence” and a significant risk of witness tampering.

Combs’ legal team had argued for his release on a $50 million bond, proposing that he be placed under house arrest with strict limitations. However, prosecutors countered that Combs was attempting to undermine the integrity of the case from jail and would likely continue these actions if released.

The judge also noted evidence indicating that Combs had engaged in questionable communications with a potential witness, suggesting violations of prison rules since his indictment in September.
