Reno Omokri has spoken out in defense of the Federal Government’s N10 billion solar installation project at Aso Rock, arguing that it is a forward thinking initiative rather than a sign of failed electricity reforms.

“It’s small-minded to see the move as a lack of confidence in Nigeria’s energy plans,” Omokri said, urging critics to look at global examples. He cited the White House in the U.S., which first adopted solar energy in 1979 under President Jimmy Carter. Subsequent administrations including Reagan, Bush, and Obama continued upgrading the system, with plans for updates during Trump’s term as well.

He also noted that similar clean energy efforts are underway at other high-profile government buildings around the world. “Fact-check this: Buckingham Palace is part of King Charles III’s sustainability project, and France’s Elysée Palace is being equipped with geothermal panels to reduce reliance on public energy,” he added
