President Bola Tinubu has granted clemency to several inmates across Nigeria

Among those whose sentences were reduced are Yusuf Owolabi, convicted of manslaughter in 2015, whose life sentence was cut to 12 years; Ifeanyi Eze, also convicted of manslaughter in 2021, reduced from life imprisonment to 12 years; and Malam Ibrahim Sulaiman, sentenced to life for armed robbery and illegal firearm possession in 2022, now reduced to 10 years.

Others include Chief Emeka Agbodike, convicted of obtaining property by false pretence in 2023, whose seven-year sentence was reduced to three years, and Isaac Justina, jailed for cannabis possession in 2022, whose term was reduced from ten to four years.

According to the Presidency, the decision followed recommendations by the Presidential Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy and was based on considerations such as age, health, good behavior, and rehabilitation efforts.
