Police Service Commission Dismisses 18 Senior Officers, Demotes 19 for Misconduct

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has authorized the dismissal of 18 senior police officers and the demotion of an additional 19 due to various misconduct and disciplinary issues. Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations at the PSC, announced these developments in a statement released on Friday in Abuja. He highlighted that the resolutions were made during the commission's initial Plenary Meeting, where they reviewed 109 outstanding disciplinary matters, along with 23 appeals and petitions, including 13 court rulings that required compliance. "After rigorous consideration of the pending disciplinary matters before the commission, it approved the dismissal of 19 senior police officers," said Mr. Ani. The dismissed officers include 10 Assistant Superintendents, six Deputy Superintendents, two Chief Superintendents, and one Superintendent. In addition to the dismissals, the PSC also approved reductions in ranks for 19 other senior police officers.
