Ogun State Police Arrest Two Security Guards for Allegedly Setting Man Ablaze
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two security guards, Segun Sodiya and Segun Abatan, for allegedly setting 44-year-old Basiru Aliu on fire in the Agura Sabo area of Sagamu.
The incident occurred after the guards mistook Aliu for a thief while he was assisting his employer in moving belongings to a new location.
According to police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, the attack took place around 7 a.m. on Monday. Aliu was reportedly helping his employer, Fatai Ifekoya, when he was violently confronted by Sodiya and Abatan, who were employed by a resident, Kingsley Nwabueze.
In a shocking act, the suspects allegedly poured a flammable substance on Aliu and set him ablaze, believing he was attempting to steal the items he was transporting.
The police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing as they work to ensure justice for the victim
