Peter Obi Visits Afe Babalola Regarding Farotimi's Defamation Case

On December 8, 2023, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), paid a visit to renowned legal luminary Afe Babalola at his office in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State. 

The visit was centered around the ongoing defamation case involving human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi.

Farotimi was recently arraigned in a Magistrate Court following a petition filed by Afe Babalola, alleging defamation related to his book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Judicial System.

On the same day of Obi's visit, a High Court granted Farotimi bail set at N50 million. However, the defamation proceedings are set to continue today, December 9, in the Magistrate Court.
