Peter Obi Decries Arrest of VeryDarkMan, Warns Against Silencing Young Voices

Peter Obi has expressed strong disapproval over the recent arrest of social commentator Martin Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), criticizing the manner in which the security forces handled the situation.

In a public statement, Obi acknowledged that while law enforcement agencies may operate within legal bounds, the way VDM was taken into custody resembled an abduction rather than a transparent arrest. 

“The use of force without clear communication only breeds fear and confusion,” he noted, adding that such tactics could encourage criminal groups to replicate similar methods.

Obi further warned that if Nigerians lose the ability to distinguish between a lawful arrest and an abduction, the nation's security and accountability structures could be severely undermined.
