Ogun Set to Host Over 12,000 Athletes at 22nd National Sports Festival in May

Preparations are in full swing for the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival, also known as the Gateway Games, which will be held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from May 16 to May 30, 2025.

More than 12,000 athletes representing all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are expected to compete across over 30 sporting categories, ranging from athletics and swimming to football, basketball, boxing, rugby, and more.

In a new initiative starting this year, select talents from the National Youth Games will join the competition as Invited Junior Athletes. This move is designed to give promising youngsters a chance to shine on a national stage and fast-track their athletic development
