Nollywood Filmmaker Arrested for Drug Trafficking

On December 27, 2024, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested filmmaker and motivational speaker Emeka Emmanuel Mbadiwe in his hotel room in Lekki. His arrest followed the earlier apprehension of his partner, Uzoekwe Ugochukwu James, at a warehouse in Ajao Estate, Ikeja.

According to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, Mbadiwe had dispatched James to collect a shipment of 33 parcels of "Loud," a potent strain of cannabis weighing 17.30 kilograms. This shipment had arrived at the Import shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) on December 24, 2024, concealed within large wooden boxes shipped from the United States on a Delta Airlines flight.

In a related incident, NDLEA operatives in Kwara State arrested Khadijat Abdulraheem, a 24-year-old fresh graduate, and 20-year-old Ayomide Morakinyo, a student at the University of Ilorin. They were apprehended for producing and selling drug-laced cupcakes in the Tanke area of Ilorin. A search of their apartment revealed 42 pieces of drugged cakes.
