NIMC Uncovers Over 6,000 Illegal Registrations of Nigeriens Amid National Database Clean-Up

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has identified more than 6,000 Nigeriens who were illegally registered in its database with the National Identification Number (NIN). 

This revelation coincides with President Bola Tinubu's directive for a thorough update of the National Social Register to enhance the Federal Government's social investment programs.

According to reports, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo briefed the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on February 4, 2025, regarding NIMC's activities. He confirmed that the NINs obtained by unauthorized holders had been revoked as part of an ongoing effort to clean up the database.
