Nigerian Pastor Sentenced in U.S.
A Nigerian pastor, Edward Oluwasanmi, has been sentenced to 27 months in prison by a U.S. District Court for his involvement in a $4.2 million COVID-19 relief fraud scheme. Oluwasanmi was found guilty of submitting falsified applications to access funds from the U.S. Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL).
The court also imposed a $15,000 fine on him and ordered the forfeiture of his commercial property in South Euclid, Ohio.
Following his prison term, Oluwasanmi will be placed on supervised release for three years.
