Nigerian Copyright Commission Issues Warning to DJs Over Unauthorized Music Use

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has issued a stern warning to DJs, including DJ 4kerty, urging them to obtain the necessary licenses before playing music publicly. 

In a statement from Abuja, NCC Director-General Dr. John Asein emphasized that DJs performing at venues such as clubs, hotels, event centers, and gardens must secure authorization from copyright owners or their designated Collective Management Organizations (CMOs).

According to the Copyright Act 2022, only copyright holders have the exclusive rights to reproduce, perform, or publicly communicate musical works or sound recordings.
