Nigerian Footballer Abubakar Lawal Dies After Fall from Shopping Mall Balcony in Uganda

Abubakar Lawal, a Nigerian footballer, has tragically died after allegedly falling from the third-floor balcony of the Voice Mall Shopping Arcade in Uganda.

 Ugandan police confirmed the news in a post on Monday, February 24.

Authorities reported that Lawal fell early on the morning of February 24, 2024. Preliminary investigations indicate that he arrived at the shopping mall in his vehicle and was meeting a friend, Omary Naima, a Tanzanian national who had been staying at the mall since February 20.

According to Naima, she left Lawal in their room preparing tea while she went to a game center within the mall. Shortly after, around 8:00 AM, Lawal reportedly fell from the balcony. He was rushed to Entebbe Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
