Nigeria to Unlock $3 Billion Annually from Carbon Market — Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said Nigeria could unlock up to $3 billion annually from the global carbon market as part of efforts to diversify the economy, attract green investments, and accelerate climate action.
Tinubu noted that by monetising carbon credits through renewable energy projects, forest conservation, climate smart agriculture, and emissions reduction initiatives, Nigeria stands to create jobs, boost foreign exchange earnings, and support sustainable development while meeting its climate commitments.
He added that the government is working to strengthen regulatory frameworks and partnerships to position the country as a major player in Africa’s carbon trading ecosystem.
