The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, has suggested extending the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme from one year to two years.
During a courtesy visit by the newly appointed NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, in Abuja, Dr. Alausa proposed expanding the NYSC's Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to empower corps members as job creators.

Furthermore, Dr. Alausa addressed the issue of OND part-time graduates previously exempted from national service, calling for resolution. In response, Brigadier General Nafiu commended the Minister's contributions to the education sector and emphasized the need for a database for Nigerian youths studying abroad.
