Michelle Obama opened up about the challenges of raising her daughters, Malia and Sasha, in the public eye, revealing that they have deliberately created some distance from her and former President Barack Obama.

 She mentioned that Malia even changed her last name as part of this effort to carve out her own identity.

Reflecting on this “push away” phase during their teenage years, Michelle explained, “Our daughters, now 26 and 23, wanted to distinguish themselves from the spotlight surrounding our family.”
