Menendez Brothers Admit Guilt 

Erik and Lyle Menendez, convicted of murdering their parents in 1989, have formally accepted full responsibility for the killings just before a judge approved a move to resentence them, going against state prosecutors’ recommendations.

The brothers, aged 18 and 21 at the time of the crime, claimed they acted after enduring years of sexual abuse by their father, Jose Menendez, and neglect from their mother, Kitty, who they say failed to protect them.

Their push for resentencing was initially supported by then-Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón.
