Mali Drops French as Official Language, Recognizes 13 Indigenous Tongues
Mali has officially joined Burkina Faso in removing French as its official language after more than six decades.
Under the country’s new constitution, 13 indigenous languages have now been granted official status, while French has been downgraded to the role of a working language.
