Britain’s King Charles III has arrived in the Bahamas as part of a nine-day tour of the Caribbean.

However, the royal visit comes amid growing calls for the British monarch to apologise for Britain’s historical role in the transatlantic slave trade, with campaigners also urging the country to provide reparations for its lasting consequences.

The visit has once again brought attention to the unresolved debate over historical responsibility, the legacy of slavery, and whether Britain should formally acknowledge the harm caused and take steps towards reparations.
