A retired comrade has voiced his displeasure at the Supreme Court after several Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) were allegedly denied access to the venue of a ceremony to make room for politicians.

The lawyers had gathered at the court to mark the commencement of the 2026/2027 legal year and witness the conferment ceremony for newly appointed SANs.

In a viral video, the retired comrade pointed to senior lawyers standing on the staircase leading to the event venue, alleging that they were locked out while seats were reserved for politicians attending the ceremony.

The allegation has sparked conversations about protocol, respect for the legal profession, and the treatment of senior lawyers at one of Nigeria’s highest courts.
