If passed, the law could impose up to six months’ imprisonment or a fine of ₦100,000 on those who abstain from voting.

Supporters argue the legislation would boost voter turnout and reinforce democratic participation, while opponents warn it may infringe on personal freedoms and pose enforcement challenges.
