Heartbreaking: Yobe Medical Director Loses Twin Daughters Two Days Apart
Professor Hadiza Abdullahi Usman, the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Center, Nguru, Yobe State, is mourning the devastating loss of her twin daughters, Dr Hadiyah Usman Abdullahi, a medical doctor, and Aidah Usman Abdullahi, a pharmacist.
The twins reportedly died just two days apart, following complications linked to sickle cell disease.
Hadiyah passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, after spending about a week at FMC Nguru while receiving treatment following a sickle cell crisis. She was laid to rest after funeral prayers at the Emir’s Palace.
Her twin sister, Aidah, had reportedly been receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital around the same period. She was said to have recovered and been discharged.
Two days after Hadiyah’s burial, Aidah visited her twin sister’s grave. She reportedly collapsed shortly after the visit and was rushed to hospital, where she later passed away.
The Federal Medical Center, Nguru, confirmed Aidah’s death in a Facebook post, referring to her as “the second twin” of Professor Usman.
A mother losing two daughters and twins losing each other within days is an unimaginable tragedy. ????
May their souls rest in perfect peace, and may God grant their family the strength to bear this devastating loss.
