Former President Jimmy Carter Passes Away at 100

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, has passed away at the age of 100 in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by family.

The Carter Center confirmed his death, marking the conclusion of a life dedicated to public service and humanitarian efforts.

Carter, who had been in hospice care since February 2023, was the oldest living former U.S. president, a distinction he earned in 2019 after surpassing George H.W. Bush. Serving from 1977 to 1981, the Democrat aimed to restore morality in American politics following the Watergate scandal. Despite significant achievements, including pivotal efforts in Middle Eastern peace, his presidency faced challenges from economic difficulties and foreign policy crises.

His son, Chip Carter, honored him as a hero to those who cherish peace, human rights, and compassion. Carter is survived by four children, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosalynn Carter, who passed away in November 2023. In his final months, he attended her memorial services but refrained from making public statements.

Although his presidency concluded with low approval ratings, Carter's post-White House years transformed his legacy
