FCT Police Rescue Abandoned Newborn, Arrest Mother

The FCT Police Command has successfully rescued a day-old baby who was abandoned along a bush path near Crush Rock, behind an uncompleted Red Bricks Market in Mpape. 

According to a statement from the command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the police received a distress call on January 3, 2025, around 10:00 AM. Officers from Mpape Division's Juvenile and Women Care Section (JWC) responded promptly and discovered the infant wrapped in a cloth.

“The child was promptly rescued and taken to the Mpape Primary Health Care Center, where medical evaluation confirmed the baby is in stable condition,” Adeh reported.

Following a tip-off from the community, police arrested the baby’s mother, Khadija Ali. During interrogation, she admitted to abandoning the child, citing her inability to care for the baby after her husband left her.
