FCT Police Intercept 488 AK-47 Rounds Hidden in Palm Oil Jerrycans, Arrest Suspect
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intercepted a major illegal ammunition shipment, seizing 488 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition hidden in jerrycans of palm oil.
Acting on intelligence and in collaboration with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), operatives from the Nyanya Division arrested Nuhu Aminu, a 32-year-old man from Katsina State, at the Nyanya bus terminal on March 24, 2025.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspect confessed that he was hired by one Yakubu Kachalla from Funtua, Katsina State, who paid him ₦100,000 to collect the illegal cargo from an unidentified contact in Nasarawa State and transport it to Katsina.
